I recently shared a glimpse of bedrooms featuring black accent walls that have been inspiring me lately.
I discovered these while researching a makeover we are planning; today, I'm excited to show a preview of our Master Bedroom Makeover ideas.
Similar to every room renovation we have undertaken, all blueprints remain flexible as the project progresses.
However, this time, I began with inspiration from a small mood board.
Starting a Farmhouse Boho Bedroom Makeover!
Master Bedroom Makeover Before Shots:
When we moved into this townhouse, our Master Bedroom was simple, covered entirely in the builder beige wall paint.
Several years ago, we did a very budget-friendly small makeover, painting it Simply White with a Silver Strand feature wall.
While that was a significant upgrade, making the space brighter and nicer, we felt it deserved more attention now.
The Objectives:
As with our prior room transformations, we have specific aims for this one, which include:
- Infusing more character with a Modern Farmhouse Boho aesthetic.
- Moving clothes into the closet to accommodate sleeker, smaller nightstands.
- Improving organization within the small closet space.
- Finishing this makeover on a modest budget, prioritizing the reuse and repurposing of existing items.
The Strategy
I term this look “Modern Farmhouse blending with Boho”.
I'm unsure if this combination is recognized, but I want to test mixing elements I genuinely like. It appears people can successfully mix styles and simply call it “eclectic”.
So, eclectic it shall be!
Modern Farmhouse Boho Style Master Bedroom Plan Elements
After studying images of bedrooms I admire, I observed these particular components:
- A wall with a dark hue. We plan to use Iron Mountain, as we have some leftover from our Dining Room and Rustic Office. (It appears notably deeper on the wall than the picture suggests above.) We know this color looks wonderful alongside Simply White.
- A blend of textures incorporating the color brown. Woven tobacco baskets on the wall, stained wood, leather on throw pillows, and thick yarns on accent pillows and textiles enhance the softness and charm of this style. Macrame wall hangings and plant holders seem perfectly suited for a Modern Farmhouse Boho bedroom. Perhaps they will appear someday, too…
- The lamps in nearly every space I examined featured gold and black metal accents. I find the way this finish stands out against deep-toned walls truly captivating.
- Incorporating plants and foliage is a hallmark of boho farmhouse bedrooms; these can be authentic or high-quality replicas, lending the rooms a vibrant, lively quality.
- Surprisingly, I've developed an appreciation for minimalist landscape modern artwork, which complements this room aesthetic wonderfully; I am eager to explore this new interest further.
