I’ve battled the nuisance of smelly dishcloths for many years, even spanning decades, haven't I?
Do you face this problem as well?
I’ve experimented with every trick in the book – such as rinsing with cold water after each use and air drying. No matter the method, they always developed an unpleasant scent quickly.
That was until I discovered Norwex products.
(Hallelujah!)
I became an instant fan of the Norwex envirocloth and window cloth, so naturally, I wanted to explore what Norwex suggested for kitchen use.
They offer numerous excellent choices.

Norwex Cloths for Cleaning Dishes
I was utterly perplexed by the vast array of Norwex cloths available for the kitchen. "Why are there so many varieties?", I mused.
I eventually realized the abundance of choices exists because Norwex’s signature bac-loc system isn’t compatible with dish soap! If you’ve read my article (or viewed the footage) about the Norwex envirocloth, you’re aware that many Norwex cloths feature a built-in bac-loc system. This internal micro silver mechanism activates purifying the cloth once it’s moistened with water. Nevertheless, dish soap impedes the effectiveness of Bac-loc.
Consequently, there are fantastic Norwex cloth alternatives expressly made for dishwashing, omitting the bac-loc feature:
- The netted dishcloth ~ A spacious nylon cloth, this Norwex option is safe for non-stick cookware and excels at clearing flour from cupboards! I incorporate this into my daily routine at home.
- The all-purpose kitchen cloth (sans bac-loc) ~ This microfiber cloth delivers high-density cleaning power and resembles a soft traditional dishcloth that most are familiar with.

Norwex Counter Cloth
Norwex kitchen cloths excel at wiping down cupboards, microwaves, appliances, and all kitchen surfaces. No other product I’ve tried matches the cleaning quality they provide. They are available in a wide spectrum of attractive colors to complement your kitchen décor.
This high-density microfiber cloth integrated with bac-loc is intended for use with water alone (without detergent). I typically start by quickly wiping my counters with my netted dishcloth (to collect all the bigger food particles), followed by a thorough wipe-down with the counter cloth.
Norwex Dish Towels
Norwex microfiber dish towels are offered in matching colors to the counter cloths – so if you enjoy color coordination, they’ve got you sorted! Also constructed from high-density microfiber with bac-loc, they can soak up an astounding volume of water – ideal for flawlessly drying dishes!
For cleaning pots and pans with persistent stains:
Norwex offers specialized solutions for this task, as well.
- The SpongeSpirit is your go-to for removing stubborn, stuck-on food residue
What is the best way to clean Norwex cloths?
It is recommended to wash Norwex kitchen cloths roughly once a week, depending on how much use they have gotten!
For cleaning, I suggest using the washing machine along with Norwex laundry detergent and a scoop of the microfiber cleaner booster – or any other detergent that avoids fillers and harsh, synthetic fragrances.
Steer clear of detergents containing fillers, as well as fabric softeners, dryer sheets, and bleach.
What is the secret to keeping Kitchen Dish Cloths fresh-smelling?
Stinky kitchen cloths are a major annoyance for me!! I’ve found that the secret to preventing odors actually lies within the dish soap you use!
Choose a ‘pure’ brand of dish soap, such as seventh generation, to keep cloths smelling fresh for much longer!
Where can you buy Norwex items you’ve had your eye on?
Norwex is sold by independent consultants. You can likely locate one near you by searching on Facebook.
