A quick price comparison between this cloth and a typical Dollar Store microfiber reveals that Norwex is pricier upfront (and significantly higher in quality).
However, when you consider that chemical cleaners become unnecessary, you’ll find it is actually much more affordable!
Norwex offers a 2-year warranty (though many users keep theirs for much longer), which works out to only 83 cents (Canadian) monthly! Personally, I view it as a fantastic cleaning investment.
What is the best way to launder and maintain the Norwex EnviroCloth?
Following each use, I vigorously rub the cloth under hot running water until the liquid runs clear. Then, I squeeze it out thoroughly and allow it to air dry.
Thanks to the integrated bac loc purifying system, the cloth can be reused several times before needing a wash. Based on my daily usage, I usually launder it after about a week. (Though, honestly, this is a matter of personal preference!)
When it’s time to wash the Norwex EnviroCloth (along with other Norwex products), the washer is the way to go:
- Avoid washing them with other cloths, as the microfiber tends to trap lint from other fabric fibers!
- Hot water is recommended.
- Skip detergents containing fillers. (I suggest using Norwex laundry detergent and the microfiber booster.)
- Liquid fabric softeners and dryer sheets should be avoided.
- Wool dryer balls or synthetic alternatives work well with Norwex cloths in the dryer
- If your washing machine senses weight and adjusts water levels accordingly, pre-wet all Norwex cloths before loading. These cloths are incredibly absorbent and lightweight, so the machine may not provide sufficient moisture if they are added dry.
To perform a deep clean on Norwex EnviroCloths:
Occasionally, you might observe that your EnviroCloth has become particularly soiled or emits an odor. This is a sign that it requires a thorough cleaning. There’s no need to worry! Here is a straightforward method for deep cleaning your EnviroCloth:
- Place a modest quantity of laundry detergent, free of additives, into a plugged sink, then pour in a kettle of freshly boiled water.
- Gently lower the EnviroCloth (or multiple cloths) into the liquid using a wooden spoon.
- Continue adding boiling water until every cloth is completely covered.
- Allow the cloths to soak, giving them an occasional stir with the wooden spoon.
- You will see the water turn quite grimy. This indicates the hot water is effectively performing a deep clean!
- Permit the cloths to soak for a minimum of thirty minutes, or leave them overnight for best results.
- Rinse the cloths thoroughly, then wash them in the washing machine and tumble dry.
What quantity of Norwex EnviroCloths is required to clean an entire home?
This choice is entirely subjective! That said, Norwex offers the EnviroCloth in a selection of hues, allowing you to establish a personalized color-coding system if desired.
This is my approach:
- Gray cloths are intended for windows and various other general cleaning tasks.
Given my current assortment of Norwex cloths, I utilize the kitchen-specific versions. However, if I lacked these, I would assign a single color of EnviroCloth exclusively for kitchen use.
