I explored numerous concepts for a "House Tour" recently, considering a series on personalizing a rental, but ultimately decided it wasn't the best use of my time since we are relocating from this wonderful intermediate home in a few months.
The search for a new residence is underway, and I confess I feel a degree of apprehension about this significant undertaking!
Despite the house hunting process, I resolved to complete the tour of our current rental property nonetheless.
This walkthrough won't feature typical "1000 Summer decor ideas for your home" or overly perfect visuals; instead, it showcases how we are utilizing this home right now. We genuinely appreciate it; it operates wonderfully and feels like a comforting embrace on a cool day.
The renovation work done on this house was incredibly thoughtful. It features necessary storage, attractive and simple-to-maintain fixtures and finishes, and I find the floor plan superb.
I hope sharing this assists anyone facing major renovation choices or needing storage inspiration for their own circumstances.
To begin, I invite you downstairs; at the main entryway, you can ascend or descend. If you go down, you will view this area from the top of the steps.

Proceeding forward reveals a bright and lovely laundry room, which is our destination for today.

My fondness for this space stems partly from the window in the door, which lets in abundant natural light, avoiding a dungeon-like laundry experience! (By the way, this door opens to the backyard and beneath the deck shed.)

I also admire the cabinets above the washer and dryer, providing space for various cleaning supplies, light bulbs, etc. Though most shelves require a step stool for me to reach, the upper bar is perfect for my family to hang drying clothes!

Across from the washer/dryer wall sits the laundry sink, accompanied by more storage cupboards, and next to it is one of the most straightforward and excellent organizers:

an ironing board and iron wall organizer. I have always wished to try one of these, and now I see how fantastic they are!
The small closet beside the laundry sink contains the essential but less aesthetic items: the furnace and water heater.
And there is our small laundry room at the base of the stairs. Listen! My dryer is chiming, indicating another batch of laundry is ready to be folded!
