Guides for Selecting Perfect Paint Hues

Yesterday, I discussed my fondness for every hue and the challenge of narrowing it down. Here are some helpful resources for deciding on a paint color for your space.

Interior Decorators

I greatly admire interior decorators; I hope to become one someday, but for now, I enjoy learning from their expertise! Many of you gain daily insights from shows such as Divine Design and Sara 101, which are my favorites.

However, I needed assistance closer to home. Our local **Benjamin Moore** outlet has an interior designer whose office is situated there. She offers free advice; you can ask her anything at the store! I consulted her once, and soon I was photographing our house. She provided excellent guidance regarding color selections. Remember, for designers to truly select a palette, they must visit your home to see how it looks in natural light. If color selection causes you stress, an interior designer might be a valuable investment and a great friend.

Inspiration Photos

I know this sounds repetitive, but I cannot overstate its importance. Discovering my 'style' happened through images, and they greatly aid my color decisions.

Consider our Main Bathroom, which is currently paused awaiting a perfectly priced vanity. While contemplating color, I reviewed my Pinterest inspiration board for the Bathroom:

A clear pattern emerged from the images—blue and white. I think blue and white will be the choice!

After settling on a color family, like blue, gather paint swatches and affix them inside the room. Leave them there to observe them under all lighting conditions—day and night, sunny and overcast. This is a crucial step. A swatch's appearance in the paint store differs from its look in your home!

Free online tools now allow users to upload room pictures and virtually test paint colors on them.

Nevertheless, I strongly advise taping those physical swatches in your room before purchasing paint. What appears on your computer screen may not match the real-life view.

What has been your most effective method for choosing home colors? I trust these resources will assist you with your own color quandaries.
