Stroganaff Hamburger Casserole with Canned Biscuits Recipe
Craving a comforting meal that’s both filling and easy? You’re going to love this easy take on beef stroganoff. The hamburger casserole base is made with ground beef, french fried onions, and mushrooms. Canned mushroom soup makes the creamy sauce easy, and a topping of golden canned biscuits with a generous sprinkle of crunchy onions makes it over-the-top delicious. It’s a hearty, convenient meal your family will ask for seconds of.
Ingredients
Method
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a large skillet, brown the hamburger over medium-high heat. Break the meat apart with a spatula and stir and toss it as it cooks. Once it’s browned with no pink left, drain the grease from the pan.
- Stir the drained mushrooms and 1/2 cup of french fried onions into the browned ground beef.
- Spread the ground beef mixture across the bottom of a casserole dish.
- In a small saucepan, heat the cream of mushroom soup and stir in 1/2 cup of the sour cream.
- Pour the soup mixture over the hamburger mixture in the casserole dish.
- Open the canned biscuits and cut each one in half.
- Arrange the biscuits on top of the casserole, starting around the edges. (Note: Spread them out a bit more than I did in the photo so some sit in the middle as well. This helps them bake more evenly.)
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup of french fried onions over the biscuits.
- Mix together a topping of 1/2 cup sour cream, 1 egg, and 1/2 teaspoon salt, then pour it over the biscuits and onions.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through in the center.
- Garnish with a few more french fried onions, if you’d like.
