In Bildirimlerim, I shared six distinct wall art endeavors from our Entryway Gallery Wall over the recent days.

These included: 1.Light Reflector Arrow Sign, 2. Striped & Layered Photo Frame, 3.Beach Cottage {faux} Photo Frames, 4.Monogram Family Letter Sign, 5.Pattern Play Display Frame, and 6.Ikea’s Mirrors Go Coastal Fun!
My favorite creation was the last one I presented…

Initially, my plan was just to create a gallery wall along the staircase, but the finished look felt uneven in the space.
After stepping back to observe it closely, I realized a significant sign above the Dining Room doorway was necessary.
I had several leftover boards from the wood salvaged from the carpenter shop's waste.

These boards were quite grimy and already bore multiple layers of paint.
{A perfect find!!}
Following a thorough cleaning, I sanded them outside using a random orbital sander. Because the paint type was unknown, working in a well-ventilated area was crucial.
The latex paint adhered nicely once the sanding was complete.
Before assembly, I painted each board alternately with aqua blue and a white wash over the existing yellow tones.

Once the color dried, I stained the edges and faces of each piece, carefully avoiding the inner sections destined for gluing; {Glue sticks best to raw wood.}
{While I didn't photograph the subsequent phase, the procedure can be viewed here.}
I bonded each board with wood glue and secured them overnight with a tight clamp, additionally affixing 3 strapping pieces for robust stability; {This sign is rather large.}
While assembling the sign base, I began contemplating the inscription I wished to feature.
I reflected upon the Scripture from Deuteronomy 6:5-9, which states this:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”
As this was intended for a “Doorframe” sign, I wanted it to carry deep significance for our family.
I selected the verse Joshua 24:15.
“As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
{The text was rendered in Book Antique font, mirroring the painting technique described above.}

It brings me such joy that it is the first thing I see upon entering the home…
