My decorating style isn't tied to specific holidays; while I embrace Christmas, other seasonal decorations like those for Valentine's Day or St. Pat's Day are absent.
However, I define 'seasonal' by moments when a room prompts a desire for alteration, often coinciding with bright sunshine illuminating overlooked dust.
If I must move furniture for cleaning, I might as well implement a complete new aesthetic, which is one of my greatest joys.
A fresh appearance...
at absolutely zero cost.
Some folks refresh fireplace mantels; lacking one, the Living Room's built-in bookcase becomes my creative focus. Last summer, the back gained a new vibe using beach mats from Dollar Store.

It's genuinely enjoyable to decorate with numerous driftwood pieces...

For Christmas, it featured touches of red and glittering gold:

After removing the Christmas items, nothing particularly exciting returned. During a recent power interruption, I decided the bookcase needed another 'seasonal' refresh. {Given my boredom from vacuuming and laundry being impossible, rearranging furniture and redecorating seemed like the perfect diversion.} Here is the process:

I began by emptying the bookcase entirely, dusting the shelves, and 'constructing' it from the top down. I gather items from around the house and experiment, adding and removing pieces until it feels correct. Certain favorites remain through all changes, yet repositioning them creates a renewed sense of novelty.

{P.S. I wanted to learn 'how to make an animated gif' after reading about it in the Centsational Girl tutorial. I actually updated the bookcase a month ago, and then updated it again specifically for the animated feature. I know it's quirky, but at least the shelves were dusted again!}
