Happy Monday morning!
Stepping back into blogging after a long pause always feels a little awkward. Should I explain where I’ve been and why I disappeared for a while? Do you even want those details, or would you prefer I jump straight into the next DIY project or before-and-after reveal? These tiny questions feel important, but instead of overthinking it, I’m simply going to write and see where this post takes me.
Last month I had to end the 31 Days series unexpectedly, and the reason was simple: we had to leave the next day for a trip. Between packing and prepping meals, blogging just didn’t fit into the schedule. We drove with two of our boys back to the town where we first lived as newlyweds, and it was a wonderful, busy visit. We packed as much visiting as possible into two days, then loaded the van for a two-day drive home. It was a fantastic, delightfully exhausting road trip.
Since returning, I’ve been spending a lot of time up at the camp, which means things at home have taken a back seat. I’ve been juggling work and home responsibilities, and honestly, I’m still catching up. Today I finally finished unpacking my suitcase, and as if to reward me, the sun came out. There’s something remarkably motivating about bright skies, clean light, and a splash of color outside my windows.

To be candid, I haven’t been feeling my best lately. There’s been a persistent ache that’s made staying active more challenging than usual, and this morning I decided it was smarter to rest and try to manage the pain. I gave myself permission to do nothing but curl up with a book on the couch, and to my surprise, that small act of self-care unlocked something. Once I allowed the rest, I actually wanted to do a few of the house projects I enjoy.
So I did a quick speed clean and set up the kitchen for a little sunny photo session. It was a gentle, satisfying way to combine rest with creativity: putter around, tidy a few surfaces, switch out a vase, arrange a stack of plates, and let the natural light do the rest. Staging a room for photos is one of those simple tasks that feels restorative and productive at the same time. It doesn’t demand long hours, but it gives a quick sense of accomplishment and order.

There are still unfinished projects from October I’d like to wrap up and share — a few DIY tweaks, a couple of before-and-after transformations, and some small styling updates that don’t require a full weekend. I’m planning to pace myself, so you can expect more relaxed updates here rather than a rush to post everything at once. Resting properly has reminded me that progress doesn’t have to be frantic to be meaningful.
For anyone who’s returned to blogging after a break, or who is balancing recovery and creativity, I hope this little note resonates. Allowing space to rest often clears the way for inspiration to return. Over the next weeks I’ll be sharing small projects, practical tips for quick home refreshes, and a few of the leftover DIY posts that I didn’t get to finish last month.
Thanks for sticking around. I’m looking forward to getting back into a steady rhythm, sharing more before-and-afters, and enjoying the slow, sunny days that make home feel cozy and bright.
