Create a DIY Christmas tree pillow in only 15 minutes without sewing

While sorting through some curtains recently, I discovered a white pillow cover I had completely forgotten about.

Since I was already thinking about festive accent pillows for Christmas, I decided to transform this into a fun DIY Christmas tree pillow.

This project is remarkably fast and simple; it also makes a wonderful present option if you are searching for one.

Materials required for your DIY Christmas Tree Pillow:

Supplies needed for a no sew diy Christmas tree pillow
  • A pillow cover (Mine was an affordable one from Ikea; a comparable option is available on Amazon.)
  • Leftover fabric pieces
  • Pom pom edging
  • Heat n Bond adhesive
  • Iron
  • Paper template for the Christmas tree
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks

1. Design a paper template for your Christmas tree.

Do not complicate this step; it is straightforward! Determine the desired width and height for your tree (mine measures 5.5 inches wide and 9 1/4 inches tall). Cut a rectangle matching those dimensions from scrap paper, then fold it in half. Make a slit from the top of the fold down to the bottom edge. Unfold the paper, and voilà—you have a tree!

2. Apply the sticky side of a piece of heat n bond (slightly larger than your final tree) to the fabric. Trace your tree shape and add a central trunk, then cut it out.

4. Remove the backing from the heat and bond and press the tree onto the middle of your pillow cover using the iron.

5. Use the glue gun to affix the pom pom trim around the perimeter of the tree.

Black pom pom trim around a plaid flannel Christmas tree on a white pillow cover is a great farmhouse style DIY Christmas decor project.

That concludes it! Insert your pillow form into the Christmas tree pillow cover and showcase your homemade Christmas decoration!

DIY Christmas Tree Pillow

Follow the straightforward instructions to create a DIY Christmas tree pillow in merely 15 minutes without any sewing needed!

Ingredients

Method

  1. 1. Craft a simple paper template for your holiday tree. Don't stress over this part; it's straightforward! Determine the exact width and height you desire for your evergreen. (My version measures 4 inches across and 6 inches high.) Cut a matching rectangle from scrap paper. Then, fold it precisely in half and slice from the fold's top to the base's bottom. Unfold the material, and there you have it - your tree shape is ready!
  2. 2. Apply heat-activated adhesive to the adhesive-backed side of a piece slightly larger than your final tree shape. Sketch your tree outline and include a central trunk. Cut the shape from your chosen fabric. 3. Remove the protective layer from the adhesive and press the tree firmly onto the middle of your pillowcase. 4. Utilize a hot glue applicator to attach pom-pom edging around the tree's perimeter. That's all! Insert your pillow form into your festive tree cover and showcase it as your handmade holiday decoration!
